Ferndale Honor Guard
The Ferndale Police Department created the Honor Guard Team after the death of former Chief of Police Patrick Sullivan in 1999.
The Honor Guard Team has grown since that time into an effective unit that performs at City functions such as the Memorial Day Parade, Veterans' Day, and other appropriate City-sanctioned events.
The Ferndale Police Honor Guard has received training from the Sheriffs and Municipal Memorial Assistance Response Team, and each of its members has or will attend a week-long training class at Camp Alpena CRTC.
Deputy Chief David Spellman is the commander of the unit, which trains once a month to keep their abilities as finely tuned as possible.
Current Honor Guard Members: Deputy Chief Spellman, Unit Commander, Lt. Danielson, Ofc. Ungerman, and Ofc. Mahlmeister, Ofc. Milobar, Ofc. Gjelaj.
